Barry said it was a “wonderful thrill" to win Citizen of the Year.

John Williams on behalf of Rose Bay PROBUS, is organised a tour to the Temora Air Show 12-14 April 2019 Young and the Central West 3 day Autumn Tour.  Staying in old fashioned country hospitality.  Picturesque rural scene in what some say is the best motel in the country.  Temora has a rich aviation history and have trained 2,400 pilots.  The members also enjoyed the Temora Museum, the only museum in the world with 2 flying spitfires. A great way to help country areas affected by drought is to visit them and spend some time and money there.

The trip included a visit to the Cowra Japanese Gardens and Cultural Centre. Full detail here.

Macquarie Lightstation: 200 years celebration community day
Saturday 1 December 2018

Australia’s original navigational light source – Macquarie Lightstation in Vaucluse – is 200! To celebrate this significant milestone,
The Harbour Trust hosted a free Community Day with a VR experience and kids activities.

Rotary Rose Bay will be hosted a sausage sizzle The BBQ was supported by the Harbour Trust and $300 in proceeds made for charity.

Macquarie Lighthouse is Australia’s first and longest operating navigational light source. Designed by convict Francis Greenway, it was completed in 1818 and named for Lachlan Macquarie, the Governor of NSW.

On Monday, 30 November, the lantern was lit for the first time, providing sailors with the means to safely navigate into and around Sydney Harbour.

Crumbling foundations led to the construction of a replacement lighthouse in 1883. Still in operation today, it is recognised as the oldest lighthouse in Australia.

To the left and right of the lighthouse are the head keeper’s residence and assistant keeper’s quarters. Collectively, these buildings are referred to as Macquarie Lightstation.
